OVERVIEW OF NEET PG EXAM DETAILS 2024

The NEET PG exam, short for the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test for Postgraduate, is a crucial examination for medical graduates aspiring to pursue postgraduate studies in India. It serves as the gateway to various MD, MS, PG Diploma, and DNB courses. NEET PG is a computer-based entrance test conducted once a year, offering admissions to medical colleges across India. The National Medical Commission (NMC) has revised the date for the National Eligibility Entrance Test (Postgraduate) due to General Elections scheduled to be held from April 19 to June 1. The NEET PG 2024 exam was initially scheduled for July 7 but has been preponed to June 23. The result of the NEET PG 2024 exam will be announced by July 15, and the counselling for admission will be held from August 5 to October 15.

NATIONAL ELIGIBILITY CUM ENTRANCE TEST POST GRADUATE (NEET PG) EXAM 2024 –IMPORTANT DATES

For the academic year 2024–2025, NEET-PG 2023 will act as the single eligibility cum entrance test for admission to MD, MS, and PG diploma programmes. It will comprise the following:

1. All India 50% quota seats for all States/Union territories of India.

2. State quota seats for all States/Union territories of India.

3. All Private Medical Colleges, Institutions & Universities/Deemed Universities all across the country

4. Armed Forces Medical Services Institutions.

5. Post MBBS DNB Courses, Direct 6 years DrNB Courses and Post MBBS NBEMS Diploma Courses

The centralised admissions for MD/MS seats using NEET-PG for the 2024–25 sessions do not cover the following medical institutions:

  1. AIIMS, New Delhi and other AIIMS
  2. PGIMER, Chandigarh
  3. JIPMER, Puducherry NEET-PG 2023 8
  4. NIMHANS, Bengaluru
  5. Sree Chitra Tirunal Institute for Medical Sciences and Technology, Trivandrum

For the admission session of 2024–2025, no State Government or Private Medical College or University will have a separate entrance for admission to their MD, MS, or PG Diploma Courses.

NEET PG Eligibility Criteria 2024

For Foreign Medical Graduates:

The eligibility criteria for foreign medical graduates to appear for the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test Postgraduate (NEET PG) exam in India are as follows:

  1. Candidates must have pursued their Primary Medical Qualifications from Medical colleges outside India.
  2. Candidates applying under the Foreign Medical Graduate (FMG) quota must have qualified for the FMGE conducted by the National Board of Examinations (NBE), a screening test.
  3. Foreign Medical graduates must be registered under the Medical Council of India (MCI) or the State Medical Council (SMC).
  4. As per the eligibility criteria of the NEET PG, the FMG candidates must have the required internship as prescribed by the NBE.
  5. Foreign Nationals have to be mandatorily registered with the competent registering authority of their country in order to get temporary registration with the NMC.

For Foreign Nationals:

The eligibility criteria for foreign nationals to apply for NEET PG 2024 are as follows:

  1. Basic Medical Qualification: Foreign nationals must have a basic medical qualification equivalent to MBBS and recognized by the National Medical Commission (NMC).
  2. Security Clearance: Foreign nationals must have security clearance from the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), Govt. of India before applying for the NEET-PG examination.
  3. Registration: Foreign nationals must be registered with the appropriate authority in their respective country.
  4. Temporary Registration: Foreign nationals can apply for NEET PG 2024 without a Registration Certificate from MCI but must pay the registration fee to MCI in order to receive a temporary registration if they pass the examination and are offered a seat through NEET PG 2024. This registration will only be valid for the stated course's duration.

It is important to note that foreign nationals must fulfill the above-mentioned eligibility conditions to apply for NEET PG 2024. Some colleges and universities have regulations stating that applicants who are already enrolled in a PG programme at their institution or one at another are not eligible for admission until after they have successfully completed the programme. Candidates who are already pursuing PG Courses either through All India Quota or State Quota and are applying for a seat under All India Quota/State quota seats may confirm the eligibility conditions of that University in this regard.

NEET PG How to Apply 2024

To apply for NEET PG 2024, follow these steps:

  1. Registration: Register for NEET PG 2024 by visiting the official website of the National Board of Examinations (NBE) at nbe.edu.in.
  2. Filling Details: Fill in the application form by providing personal and educational details, including name, date of birth, contact information, and qualifications.
  3. Uploading Documents: Upload scanned copies of the required documents, such as a passport-size photograph, signature, and left-hand thumb impression, as per the specifications.
  4. Exam City Selection: Select the preferred exam city for the NEET PG 2024 examination.
  5. Payment of Application Fees: Pay the application fees in online mode through credit/debit cards or net banking.
  6. Printout of Confirmation Page: After successful payment, a confirmation page will be displayed on the screen.
