AFCAT EXAM DETAILS OVERVIEW 2025

Participants are welcomed to a variety of courses that will start up for the granting of Short Service Commissions (SSC) in the Flying Branch and Permanent Commissions (PC) and Short Service Commissions (SSC) in the ground duty (Technical or Non-Technical) branches.Men and women from India are invited to join the Indian Air Force as Group A Gazetted Officers in the Flying and Ground Duty branches.AFCAT or Air Force Common Admission Test exam is conducted by the Indian Air Force for selection of officers in all branches of the Indian Air Force (except medical and dental) viz.Flying Branch (Short Service Commission only), and Ground Duty Branch ((Technical and Non-Technical) NCC Special Entry/Meteorology Entry.

Every year, in the months of February and August, the AIR FORCE COMMON ADMISSION TEST is held. The AFCAT advertisement for the same is released in the months of December and June, respectively.

AFCAT EXAM VACANCY 2025

The Indian Air Force (IAF) has announced 336 vacancies for the AFCAT 1 2025 Exam. The selected candidates will undergo training for Short Service Commission in various branches, commencing in January 2026.

AFCAT TYPES OF COMMISSION 2025

The AFCAT 2025 exam offers two types of commissions: Permanent Commission (PC) for Men and Short Service Commission (SSC) for Men and women. The main difference between the two is the tenure of service.

• Permanent Commission (PC): This offers a long-term career in the Indian Air Force until the officer retires, usually around the age of 60, depending on their physical and mental fitness. It provides job security and the opportunity to advance through the ranks over the course of the career.
• Short Service Commission (SSC): This offers a shorter tenure of service, typically around 14 years, extendable up to 20 years. SSC officers are initially engaged for a shorter period, providing them with the advantage of a better balance between their military career and personal life. After the completion of their tenure, SSC officers have the choice to either opt for a Permanent Commission or transition to civilian life.

These commissions cater to individuals with different career aspirations and provide distinct opportunities and responsibilities.

AFCAT 1 SELECTION PROCEDURE 2025

The selection procedure for AFCAT 1 2025 consists of the following stages:

1. AFCAT Written Exam: The first stage is the AFCAT written exam, which candidates need to clear to proceed to the next stage.
2. AFSB Interview: Candidates who pass the written exam will be invited to the Air Force Selection Board (AFSB) for an interview. The AFSB interview takes place in two stages and includes various tests to assess the candidates' aptitude, psychology, personality, and knowledge.
3. Medical Test: The final stage of the selection process is the medical examination, which is conducted to ensure that the candidates meet the medical standards set by the Indian Air Force.
4. Final Merit List: A final merit list of qualified candidates will be prepared based on their performance in the written exam, AFSB interview, and medical test.

AFCAT HOW TO APPLY 2025

To apply for AFCAT 1 2025, candidates can follow the steps below:

1. Registration: Visit the official AFCAT website and click on "Candidate Login" and then on "NOT YET REGISTERED. REGISTER HERE" to create an account.

2. Fill Application Form: Log in with the registered email ID and password, fill in the AFCAT 1 application form with personal, educational, and communication details.

3. Upload Documents: Upload the required documents, including a recent photograph, signature, and thumb impression.

4. Choose Exam City: Select your preferred exam city and agree to the declaration.

5. Fee Payment: Pay the application fee online.

6. Review and Submit: Review the application form and submit it. Download and print a copy of the application form for future reference.

The application form for AFCAT 1 2025 was available from December 02, 2024, to December 31, 2024. Candidates needed to ensure that they met the eligibility criteria before applying for the exam.

AFCAT APPLICATION FEE 2025

AFCAT 1 application form fee must be paid online using credit/debit cards, net banking, etc. To get the application form cleared, the application cost must be submitted.

Allotment of AFCAT 1 2025 Centres: Candidates will receive centers according to their preferences as much as possible. Candidates should be aware that requests for a different testing location, time, or date will not be considered. Therefore, candidates should take reasonable caution while selecting the date or time of their choosing for the examination center before completing the form. The AFCAT exam locations could be canceled in any unforeseen circumstance. In this case, the impacted applicants would be given access to other centers. The IAF's decision in this regard will be final, and no appeals will be considered.

AFCAT ADMIT CARD 2025

IAF applicants must submit their AFCAT applications form online using the link IAF (cdac.in), or afcat

The AFCAT 2025 Admit Card will be released on the official website of the Indian Air Force (IAF) after the application process is completed. Candidates who have successfully submitted their AFCAT application online can download their AFCAT 2025 admit card from the IAF website using their login credentials like email ID and password.

Here are the steps on how to download the AFCAT 2025 Admit Card:

1. Go to the official website of the Indian Air Force (IAF)

2. Enter your registered email ID and password.

3. Click on the "Login" button.

4. On the candidate dashboard, look for the "Download AFCAT 2025 Admit Card" link.

5. Click on the link and download your admit card.

6. Print out your admit card on an A4-sized paper.

Important Documents to Carry to the Exam Center:

1. AFCAT 2025 Admit Card

2. Valid photo ID proof (original and photocopy)

3. Blue ballpoint pen

4. Original certificates (educational, caste, domicile, etc.) as mentioned in the admit card

Exam Center Reporting Time:

Candidates must reach the exam center at least 90 minutes before the scheduled exam time to undergo the frisking and other formalities. Latecomers will not be allowed to enter the exam hall.

Exam Day Guidelines:

1. Dress code: Candidates should wear formal attire (light-colored shirts and trousers)

2. Electronic devices: Mobile phones, calculators, watches, or any other electronic devices are strictly prohibited inside the exam hall.

3. Food and water: Candidates are not allowed to carry any food or water items inside the exam hall.

4. Marking Scheme: The exam will have negative marking. 1/4th mark will be deducted for each incorrect answer.

Applicants should make sure they meet all requirements for admission before submitting an application for the AFCAT exam. Their admission at all the stages of examination viz. Written examination and SSB test will be purely provisional, subject to their satisfying the prescribed eligibility conditions.

The IAF will cancel their candidature if verification conducted at any point before or after the written test or the AFSB Testing reveals that they do not meet any of the eligibility requirements.
