OVERVIEW OF FOREIGN MEDICAL EXAMINATION EXAM DETAILS

The Screening Test Regulations of 2002 introduced the FMGE-Screening Test. According to the rules, “An Indian citizen possessing a primary medical qualification awarded by any medical institution outside India who is desirous of getting provisional or permanent registration with the Medical Council of India or any State Medical Council on or after 15 March 2002 shall be required to pass a screening test held for that purpose by the designated authority in accordance with section 13 of the Act.

As per the current schedule, the Screening Test is held by the National Board of Examinations inJune and December each year.

FMGE Examining Procedure :

  • The FMGE Exam is conducted twice a year in June and December.
  • Medium of the FMGE exam is English language.
  • The FMGE Examination shall be conducted as a Computer Based Test or CBT mode consist of 300 Multiple Choice Questions (MCQ) of a single correct response type without any negative marking as per the existing scheme of the Foreign Medical Graduate Examination.
  • FMGE Exam contains NO negative marking.
  • A candidate for the FMGE is only considered to have passed if they receive at least 50% of the total exam marks.
  • FMGE Examination Results (Pass/Fail) for eligible candidates will be displayed at the website and office of NBE. Marks obtained shall be declared for all the candidates and also displayed at the website.
  • The applicants who cleared the FMGE Screening Test may apply to the Medical Council of India, New Delhi or to any State Medical Council for provisional registration / permanent registration.
  • An FMGE applicant may take as many attempts as they like without any limitations.

FMGE ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA 2024

Candidates willing to appear in the FMGE June 2024 exam advised to go through the eligibility criteria before filling Application form for FMGE June 2024.

  • Foreign medical graduates must be a citizen of India or should be Overseas Citizens of India.
  • Candidates must hold a primary medical degree from the recognized institution, which must be verified by the concerned Indian Embassy of that nation.
  • On or before the deadline, candidates must turn in the required paperwork to demonstrate that they passed the Primary Medical Examination final exam.
  • The result of the final exam for the said primary medical degree should have been declared on or before 30th April, 2024.
  • Medical applicants who have completed their undergraduate, as well as postgraduate medical degree from the following mentioned countries, are not required to appear for the FMGE June session screening test to get the permanent or provisional registration certificate. Such candidates can directly register with MCI or SMC for the certificate and do their further practice in India.

FMGE Payment Method 2024

The required registration fee must be paid using a payment gateway with a credit card, debit card, or net banking account issued by an Indian bank.

FMGE ADMIT CARD: On July 01, 2024, the National Board of Examinations website, https://natboard.edu.in, will publish the admit cards. Before the exam is conducted, candidates who have been found to be ineligible will not be given admit cards.

FMGE TEST DAY PROCEDURES: The computer-based test will be administered by NBEMS in a secure setting. NBEMS has the right to review the CBT test day procedures if the COVID-19 pandemic scenario changes. FMGE TEST CENTRE LOCATION: The FMGE admit card must provide the precise address and location of the test centres. Candidates are advised to familiarise themselves with the test centre locations at least one day prior to the FMGE examination day and ensure that they report for the exam as per scheduled time only.
